On this afternoon, fire ravaged the Times of India building in central Delhi’s ITO area and claimed the life of veteran journalist Dileep Padgaonkar.
1. The Quadrilateral
In geometry, a quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides and four angles. It derives its name from the Latin combination of quadri, meaning four, and latus, meaning side.
Geopolitically, the Quadrilateral (US-Japan-Australia-India) is an informal alliance of democracies created to counter Chinese assertiveness. This coalition was revived in 2007, following several tensions that emerged in Asia-Pacific region.
The Quad began as a maritime cooperation forum but has since evolved into security cooperation. Its leaders meet regularly to address pressing issues like cybersecurity and climate change.
The Quad is seeing a rebirth due to concerns over China’s expanding naval strategy and regional ambitions. Furthermore, this movement is driven by a need for a more cohesive defense strategy.
2. Bihar workers assaulted
The news of Bihar workers being assaulted in Tamil Nadu has spread like wildfire, creating fear among laborers. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered an inquiry and directed police officials in Tamil Nadu to ensure the safety of migrant Bihari workers.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued a tweet in which he noted his concern over media reports of attacks against migrant workers from Bihar in Tamil Nadu. As such, I have instructed the state government of Tamil Nadu to conduct an inquiry into these rumors.”
Later in the day, DGP Babu issued a statement refuting these claims and asserted that the viral videos are false. He clarified that these videos do not depict clashes between Tamil Nadu people and Biharis but rather local residents of Coimbatore.
3. Nostradamus: Did he really predict Modi’s victories?
Nostradamus, the French esoteric writer who died in 1566, is renowned for his book Les Propheties, a collection of quatrains that he claimed could predict future events. Some of his prophecies have come true, such as Charles I’s execution, the Great Fire of London, Napoleonic and Nazi rise and fall, JFK’s assassination and French Revolution.
Nostradamus’ quatrains have also been credited with presciently forecasting several major wars, the most renowned being a possible World War III that could last 27 years.
4. Daniel Fernandes’s viral set
Daniel Fernandes has been making headlines on social media with his poignant performances regarding marital rape, student suicides and the death penalty. Now, Fernandes is taking on mental illness in his latest set.
In this set, Fernandes wasn’t content with simply discussing a subject; rather, he created an animated video combining live action with animation. Drawing upon his extensive expertise in internet and social media management, Fernandes managed to craft an enthralling piece of artwork that captured viewers around the world.
5. BJP leader LK Advani’s letter to PM
Senior BJP leader LK Advani has issued a blog post to express his displeasure with Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah’s disrespect of not only party founders, but also citizens at large. The veteran leader urged the ruling party to reflect upon its past, look ahead, and look within itself for answers.
Advani, a longtime leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), began his political journey as an active volunteer with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh before serving as minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government from 1998 to 2004.
