Times of India is one of the most popular newspapers in India. It publishes all the latest news from all the parts of the country. The news is provided by various sections of the newspaper such as business, finance, entertainment and others.
Revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status
When India’s Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi led his government to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the world’s news media was full of headlines focusing on the decision. While the headlines referred to the decision itself, they also criticized the Indian government’s lack of consultation and its blacking out of dissent in the Valley.
The decision sparked an uproar in the Indian parliament. Opposition parties tried to disrupt proceedings.
A bill in the Parliament to formalize the presidential decree was introduced by Home Minister Amit Shah. Thousands of troops were dispatched to the state, including tens of thousands of Indian troops. This was followed by a security crackdown in the state. Thousands of people were detained. Internet and phone services were cut, and thousands of tourists were urged to leave the region.
Many political parties and analysts have expressed skepticism about the move. They believe the decision could lead to unrest and conflict in the region.
Inflation hovers around 8% in India
India’s inflation rate is inching towards 8%. It has been above the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) target range of 2 to 6 per cent since January. But the country is not out of the woods when it comes to battling the soaring price tag.
As a result, the government has been forced to take a number of measures to ward off inflation. This includes reducing custom duties on some raw materials and rationing supplies of essential food items.
Despite the steps taken by the government and the central bank, inflation is still on the rise. A report by the State Bank of India suggests that the real time indicators will take a while to moderate.
The CPI based on the consumer price index rose to an eight year high of 7.79% in April. Food inflation was the most prominent driver, with an overall increase of 7.68%. Besides the food price spike, fuel and light prices also climbed.
Conflict over Taj and Orient-Express hotels’ brand positioning and image
This week in the great smokes of London, a group of hoteliers gathered at the palatial Savoy Hilton to discuss what’s in store for the future of the industry. The big question posed to this quartet of eminently styled, eminently minded executives was the best way to ingest the latest and greatest of the next generation. While no deal breakers were announced in the room, the big questions were unaddressed. In the end, it was a night of eminently minded, eminently minded and eminently minded. Nevertheless, all in all, it was a night to remember. We’ve got a lot to talk about. You’ll probably hear from a few of us in the coming days. And you’ll see a few of us a little less harried. Hopefully, these conversations aren’t the only ones in the works. After all, the aforementioned exes will be a big part of the equation. As a result, any tussles are likely to get a bit more sexier.
Paid news
The Times of India is the third largest newspaper in India. Its average issue readership is seven million. Since independence, the newspaper has gained prestige. A major part of its content relates to international news.
While the Times is an English language publication, it has a diverse circulation, with readers from all over the country. It is published by Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd, a group which also publishes the Mumbai Mirror and the Economic Times.
The Group’s publishing operations are supported by several contracts with diverse companies. The Times has been accused of promoting group services and sometimes being pro-BJP. In 2010, the ECI enforced Paid News measures during the Bihar Assembly elections.
The Press Council of India (PCI) has warned against paid news modes. It has urged the government to provide more powers to deal with this offence.
PCI has recommended that two years imprisonment is a minimum punishment for such offences. It has also proposed amendments to the Press Council Act, 1978. This would make PCI’s directions binding on government authorities.
